On March 27, the Santes Creus Regional Tourism Office and the Hikers’ Welcome Centre of the Cister Route were inaugurated, a facility designed for visitors who travel on foot or by bicycle along the long-distance trail GR175.
The Alt Camp Tourism Office, attached to the Alt Camp County Council, is part of the Catalonia Tourism Office Network and has been operating since 1999. The office provides information, guidance and technical assistance to visitors and tourism stakeholders in the region.
Over the years, the Tourism Office has been located in different spaces provided by public administrations, a situation that has ensured the continuity of the service but has at times limited its capacity for growth and consolidation.
With the inauguration of the Santes Creus Regional Tourism Office, located at the Pere el Gran Hostel, a facility of the Alt Camp County Council, a step forward has been taken as a new stage opens in the tourism promotion of the region. The Santes Creus Tourism Office has been designed as a global showcase of the Alt Camp, a showcase where all municipalities of the region will be represented in order to ensure a cohesive vision of the territory.
The new office has also made it possible to upgrade the facilities in order to improve the quality of the services provided. Among these services, it is worth highlighting better support for users of the GR175, the trail that connects the three monasteries of the Cister Route, among other tourist information services.
This initiative is also the starting point for improving and strengthening the region’s tourism information network. In this regard, the office will work in coordination with the municipal tourism offices of Valls and Nulles, as well as with the information points in La Riba and the one that will be opened at the Sanctuary of Mare de Déu de Montserrat in Montferri.
This network is conceived as a living and growing system, open to the incorporation of new information points that bring the service closer to users, always coordinated by the Regional Tourism Service of the Alt Camp County Council, all with the aim of contributing to the promotion of sustainable, balanced and high-quality tourism in Alt Camp.
