Welcome to Alt Camp! How lucky you are to be here!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Alt Camp<\/strong> is the leading region in Catalunya<\/strong>, also in alphabetical order; you can be sure of that. There is no other region with the attractions ours has. Welcome to our home, wherever you come from. What you\u2019re about to find out, you\u2019ll never forget. Let’s go for it!<\/p>\n

A region is good if the sea is nearby (in Alt Camp<\/strong> there are carob trees, which have to be next to the sea to bear fruit, they say), where the mountain stops the north wind and an extensive, fertile plain is supplied by two rivers. If you add an active and living capital to all of this, not particularly large; 23 municipalities, a decentralised municipal entity and other, largely agricultural towns; no overcrowding whatsoever; a Cistercian monastery; and a landscape baptised by the poet who longed for it, the Catalan Tuscany; here is Alt Camp<\/strong>. There\u2019s no other place like it.<\/p>\n

Be sure not to miss the\u00a0monastery at Santes Creus<\/strong>, the jewel in the Cistercian crown; the\u00a0Arciprestal church of Sant Joan<\/strong>, a Gothic place of worship that houses an interesting collection of Baroque sculpture; the Romanesque church of Sant Ramon del Pla de Santa Maria<\/strong>, the most beautiful in the region; the\u00a0Montserrat Sanctuary in Montferri<\/strong>, a distinguished work by the architect Josep M. Jujol; the\u00a0Chapel of the Roser<\/strong>\u00a0in Valls<\/strong>, with the tile ceilings commemorating the Battle of Lepanto, unique in the world; the\u00a0hermitage of Roser de Vallmoll<\/strong>, another work by Jujol<\/strong>, with an almost unknown Renaissance altarpiece; the\u00a0church of Sant Jaume de Br\u00e0fim<\/strong>, with a baroque organ and an altarpiece; the\u00a0Nulles Wine Cathedral<\/strong>, the magnificent winery of the architect C\u00e8sar Martinell<\/strong>, the most beautiful of all; the\u00a0Vila-rodona Columbarium<\/strong>, a Roman funerary monument, unique in the world; and the\u00a0hermitage of Remei de Alcover<\/strong>, the gateway to the capricious nature that surrounds the Glorieta river<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Is that enough or do you want more? Well, this is the area of the human towers or castells<\/strong>, the cradle of the\u00a0Xiquets de Valls<\/strong>, the centre of the castell world; the land of origin of the\u00a0“cal\u00e7otada”<\/strong>; containing the streets where Narc\u00eds Oller<\/strong>, Jaume Mercad\u00e9<\/strong>, Carles Card\u00f3<\/strong>, Robert Gerhard<\/strong>, C\u00e8sar Martinell<\/strong> were born.<\/p>\n
